Every once in awhile I do something really bad for my health. In this most recent case I simply pushed myself too hard and too far. I was so excited about some of the amazing health research I was coming across, and some of the terrific advances in holistic and natural health, that I worked far into the night, and got up too early to begin again. I did this day after day. Until I wore my immune system down and got sick.
I wound up with the sinus infection from h#$l. I have only had one other sinus infection in my life, and that one was hard to get rid of, as well. But that was more than 40 years ago. So I am not used to having sinus infections.
I was miserable. My whole head felt stuffed up. The pressure on my sinuses was painful enough so that it was difficult to sleep. I certainly was not able to do any productive work. So all that pushing beyond my limits did not do me any good, anyway.
After a few days, even my teeth began to hurt. To help with that I used the protocol described in the Oil of Oregano article. It describes how to use Oil of Oregano to protect your heart against damage from migrated dental bacteria, and also how to improve your overall dental health.
However, I find it also works to reduce pain and discomfort from most dental problems, at least on a temporary basis. In the article, the recommendations are to apply the Oil of Oregano once a week or several times a week. In general, because it is very strong, doing it too often for a prolonged period of time is not recommended. It could end up irritating the gums and mucous membranes in your mouth. However, for a brief period of time, (maybe up to a week or ten days), applying Oil of Oregano once or twice a day seems to be safe and effective.
I started off dealing with this sinus infection using my usual remedies for colds and the like. I boosted my vitamin D, (temporarilly, only), to 20,000 iu per day. I increased my vitamin C. I started taking massive amounts of Dr. Shen’s Chinese remedies for colds. (I use their “Gan Mao Ling” and their “Yin Chiao” at the very first sign of a cold, and usually it is gone in a few hours.)
I also began taking large amounts of Stinging Nettle. I use the freeze-dried stinging nettle from Eclectic Institute. This is helpful for drying up an overabundance of nasal mucus. (It’s also good for the liver, for general immune support and other things, as well.)
I even increased my MMS. (I have been on a “maintenance dose” of MMS for months – 3 drops in the middle of the day.) I increased to 4 doses of 3 drops each, spread throughout the day.
The sinus infection would not budge. I was not getting worse, but I was not getting better. I was getting nowhere. It was time to pull out the big guns.
I began irrigating my sinuses 3 times a day. (I have included some important details below on how best to do this.)
I continued all the other stuff – Dr. Shen’s Chinese herbs for colds, the increased vitamin D, the increased vitamin C, the Oil of Oregano and Stinging Nettles.
To this I added a strategy from Dr. Robert Beck’s Protocol. I used his “blood supply electrification” protocol.
“Blood Supply Electrification” – I wore the Silver Pulser from Sota Intruments for 2 hours each day to stimulate my immune system. After two days, I could tell that this was beginning to turn the tide.
But I still felt that my recovery was taking too long. I still did not feel well enough to be back at my work, which is also my passion.
I needed to throw still more at this sinus infection: Again, I turned to the “Dr. Robert Beck Protocols”, but I added my own twist: I used my Sota Instruments Silver Pulser to generate colloidal silver. I drank some for general immune support and pathogen suppression. But the rest I used to irrigate my sinuses. I have never heard of doing this, but it seemed to make sense.
If properly made and used, colloidal silver is harmless to healthy cells and tissue and deadly to most pathogens. Why wouldn’t it be perfect for irrigating the sinuses to get rid of a sinus infection? I could think of no reason why it should not work.
So that is exactly what I did. I did this 3 times a day, and after 2 days I was well again. The sinus infection that had been plaguing me for nearly 2 weeks was gone!
Just to be sure I had it really nailed, I continued with both the electrification and colloidal silver protocols, (both rinsing the sinuses and drinking some), for a couple more days.
I am not sure I will ever completely break a lifelong pattern of confusing myself with Superman. I guess that if I had to choose between always having sensible restraint, or sometimes having an overabundance of enthusiasm for life and for my work, it’s a no-brainer. I’ll take enthusiasm any day.

And here are some tips for safe and effective sinus irrigation:
1. Always use distilled water, mixed with the right amount of natural salt to achieve the right level of saline. (It should be the same salinity as your blood.)
2. Always make sure the rinse water is the right PH. (It should also be the same as your blood – 7.2 to 7.3.)
The first 2 conditions are best achieved by using the sinus irrigation packets that are readily available in most health food stores, and being careful to follow the mixing directions.
3. Warm the water to as close to body temperature as you can get it. Test it for temperature against the inside of your wrist, as you would for a baby bottle.
4. The rinse mixture can be introduced to the sinuses via the nostrils, using any of several simple devices readily available. These include “Netipots”, “Sinus Rinse squirt bulbs”, etc.
5. Do each nostril several times.
6. Do not try snuffling up tap water, or shower water. There is too much likelyhood of impurities, chlorine and the like, which you do not want to put in contact with the delicate tissues of the sinuses. Further, the salinity and PH will not be right.
7. Be gentle. The sinus membranes and tissues are delicate, and do not respond well to brute force.
Expect this to be somewhat uncomfortable. But know that it is extremely effective, and the discomfort does not last long. The short-term sinus relief and more rapid overall recovery will make the immediate discomfort well worth it.
To your health!

Interesting article, informative and enjoyable I realise how important vit C is…
Thanks for your encouragement. I do put a lot of work into these articles so I am always glad to learn of people finding value in them.
I want to let you know that I have a whole article on how to properly use vitamin C. I am just in the process of updating this article. If you want a copy, e-mail me and I will send it as soon as mu current updates are completed. jeff@myhealthoptimizer.com
I completely understand everything you have explained. Actually, I browsed through your other posts and I believe that you are certainly correct. Best wishes with this particular online site.
Thanks for your kind words and for your support. Please feel free to recommend that others, wishing to take back control of their health and learn how to care for these bodies that we live in, visit the site. I average about 60 hours of research a month, looking into health measures that really work to address significant problems. So I am frequently adding to what’s here. And I have a newsletter that is just getting started. Once it is really up and running it will be published twice each month. The featured article in this next edition, which will be out in a few more days, is a detailed explanation of one of the top 10 anti-cancer measures.
Thanks again. To your great health!

HI Jeff!
What dosage or strength of silver did you put in your nasal rinse? Pure? 50%-50% water? Just a few drops?
Cheers,
That’s a great question. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a simple answer. I make my own colloidal silver and have for years. I make 10 ounces at a time. When I am done generating my colloidal silver, using 10 ounces of distilled water, the result is a silver colloid that is somewhere between 10 parts per million and 15 parts per million. For getting rid of sinus infections I use it at full strength. I make it fresh each time I need it.
I use to use a homemade colloidal silver generator that I made many years ago, following a schematic that the great Dr. Robert Beck developed and gave out for free. A number of years ago Sota Instruments created and started marketing a more compact and more convenient colloidal silver generator that also included the circuits for Dr. Beck’s “micro-pulsing” protocol for “electrical medicine. I have used that ever since.
I would say that if you make your own silver and it comes out in roughly the same strength as mine, then my protocol should work well for you. But if you buy it commercially, then I am not sure. I suppose to be safe, you could either contact the manufacturer and see what they recommend when you tell them how you intend to use it. Or if that is not possible, maybe try diluting it with sterile distilled water, starting out with 2 parts water to 1 part colloidal silver liquid. If the sinus irritaiotn that results is tolerable, then try increasing the amount of colloidal silver. In any case, it will likely be mildly irritating to the sinuses. That is because it is not the right PH and salt level. But I consider that worth the small amount of irritation to get rid of the pathogens. The irritation does not seem to last long.
In any case, if you do things like this very much, I would recommend that you obtain your own colloidal silver generator and begin making your own. It is convenient, you have control over the quality, and it will quickly pay for itself. On this site I have a review and all the information you need about the Sota Instruments Silver Pulser. The review and links are under the Resources TAB.
Let me know if I cna be of further help.
