Organic Sulfur For Rapid Pain Management?

Thrive-JeffBell_Close_Cropped_Headshot_10-29-2013Ordinarily it would be a long time before I could personally test something like this.  I am blessed to live mostly free of any physical pain, despite my body have been subjected to some pretty rough use over the years.

Sometimes things seem to happen for a reason.   Yesterday, about an hour after I got off the phone with Patrick McGean, the Director of The Cellular Matrix Study, which is a world-wide study of the use of Organic Sulfur for improved health, I had occasion to put his latest recommendation to the test.

Patrick shared with me that one of the study members recently related a way to use sulfur to almost instantly lower the level of a physical pain:  The idea is really quite simple but it had never occurred to me.   It has long been recognized that there are primary sensory nerve branches that run from the jaw to the brain and then tie in to various parts of the body.  This is one reason why the mouth is such a sensitive area of the body for experiencing pain.

The study member told Patrick of nearly instant and very dramatic results in lowering pain levels by using the following simple trick.  He took about 1/3 of a teaspoon of the organic sulfur that the study uses, put it in his mouth and brushed his teeth with it.  Within about 30 seconds his pain had dropped from quite a high level to a rather low level.

If you understand the biology of pain this makes perfect sense.  One of the factors that can increase the perception of pain is that the transfer of oxygen across cellular membranes may become impaired or limited.  When this happens, the perceived pain can increase dramatically.

Conversely, increasing the oxygen supply to the individual cells that make up the nerve branches involved can greatly lower the perceived pain.  Keep in mind that all pain is subjective.  We have no way to accurately measure the level of pain.  So all that matters is what we perceive.

Brushing your teeth with organic sulfur will almost instantly increase the ability of oxygen to cross the cell membranes for all of your oral tissue, including nerve tissue.  And since the nerve trunks all use the jaw area as a sort of “nerve central switchboard” it makes sense that doing this could lower your perceived pain.  It also makes sense that the results would be very rapid.

About an hour after my call with Patrick I was moving a heavy piece of equipment in my office and I whacked the heck out of my elbow.  Yep, smacked it right on the good ole “funny bone”.  (I’m not sure why it’s called that – I don’t laugh when I hit it, and I have never seen anyone else laugh after smacking theirs.)

I was in so much pain that it was astonishing.  On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say it was about an 8.  When I got over the immediate shock I remembered my call with Patrick.  I thought, “Well since I have smacked my elbow and it hurts like heck, I may as well get some benefit from this experience.  I’ll just go brush my teeth with some organic sulfur and see what happens.”

I brushed my teeth with a small amount of organic sulfur.  Within about 30 seconds my pain was down to a 3.  Within 5 minutes it was down to a 1.

Last night I brushed my teeth with the organic sulfur one more time.  I am once again pain-free today.

One thing to keep in mind:  Not all organic sulfur is created equal.  Most of it goes by the name of MSM.  But there is a HUGE range of what you actually get when you buy MSM.  Most of it has additives, such as “anti-clumping” compounds, or sometimes even preservatives which are not necessary, and most of it has been distilled in such a way that the result in not readily usable by the body.  If you want an organic sulfur that is pure and that has been properly distilled, here is a link to what we offer.  It is simply the best that I have ever found.

I just received my order of MSM. The sheet that came with it said to use a teaspoon in water. The label says a teaspoon per 100# of bodyweight. I’m around 260#, so should I take two and a half teaspoons twice a day?

      Hi Kelley,

The guidelines from The Cellular Matrix Study have been recently updated. I would consider that to be the most authoritative source on anything to do with organic sulfur. The new guidelines call for adults 150 pounds or more, to take 3 measured tablespoons each day. It is best to spread this out in three servings throughout the day. Keep in mind that you don;’t want to waste the sulfur and take so much that your body cannot utilize a good percentage of what you take, but it also is nearly impossible to take so much that it becomes a problem. So it is better to error on the side of too much rather than too little.

        Hi Jeff,

I just recently bought some of the Cellular Matrix Study organic sulfur from another source and the label says 1 teaspoon twice a day if under 200lbs and healthy. Is that your recommendation now as well? Also I’m 120lbs and have SLE lupus. Im just taking the 2 tsp twice a day but I may need to go up. I’ve only been on this brand for a week though. Do you work with anyone with lupus? If so how much of this sulfur do you find to be a therapeutic dose for that condition?

        Thanks!

        Hi CJ,

I apologize for the delayed reply. I have been dealing with some technical issues on my web site that have prevented the notifications from getting through to me when people post comments and questions.

Here is my delayed response: It sounds like you are using enough of the sulfur. However, to overcome lupus I would consider a number of other measures, as well. Yes, I do work with people challenged with lupus. I have helped a number of people to overcome it. To really help you I will need the health background and some more details. If you e-mail me at: jeff@MyHealthOptimizer.com I will be able to help you.

        To your great health!

Can sulphur be put into empty capsules and be taken. Won’t they dissolve and produce the same results

      Hi Chris,

I suppose this is possible. However, given the amount of sulfur that is optimal, that would involve a lot of capsules. For me, that is more work that I want to do. Automated encapsulating methods require the addition of anti-caking agents which will render the sulfur useless. And you would have to make sure that the capsules, themselves do not include any materials other than the vegetable matter they are made from. Organic Sulfur is very sensitive and many materials, chemicals and substances will render it ineffective.

For myself, I prefer just mixing my organic sulfur into some pure water and drinking it down. For those who find the taste just too bitter, I recommend squeezing in half an organic lime. That will not conflict with the sulfur and it does offset the taste to a large extent.

Also, as a general technique for eating or drinking things that I find taste lousy I like to use this simple technique: As I am drinking or eating the supplement I visualize all my cells dancing little happy dances with smiley faces. That sounds corny, I know, but it really seems to help.

    Hi Jeff,

Could you possibly touch on the detox reaction? I started out taking 1/4 teaspoon twice a day with another brand and was fine for the first few days, then BAM – massive headache and nausea for three days. I’ve read this is normal, but wanted your input and advice. I’m upping the dosage slowly, because I would rather avoid feeling like that again.

Next time I’ll order from here when I run out of my current supply. Thanks a million!

      Hi Isis,

Thanks for asking a great question. I’m sure others want to know, as well. First of all, make sure that you are drinking lots of good quality water. If you are under-hydrated and you start taking organic sulfur, you are more likely to get a detox reaction, or herxheimer effect. Secondly, make sure your diet is clean and as free of junk as possible. The sulfur is trying to detox your body, and if you are putting in more toxins, then a reaction if more likely because your normal detox pathways will get overwhelmed. Thirdly, you may have a high load of toxins. If you do, then a reaction like that is likely. One approach is to radically increase the daily sulfur intake and “push through”. I take 3 tablespoons every day. I separate that out into 3 doses that I take away from foods or other supplements. You might also want to get a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis to see if you have a significant amount of heavy metals or maybe some mineral imbalances that are causing this problem. If you want to try that, search on my site for HTMA and you will find what you need.

      To your great health,
      Jeff
